Tanning beds are hugely popular. They’re effective in giving you that gorgeous summer glow that leaves you feeling super confident and ready for the summer. If you’re considering getting yourself a tanning bed, how do you know which one is best for you?
Choosing the Right Tanning Bed
You want to find a bed that suits your needs and wants. One that has the right level of lighting for your particular skin tone and gives you a nice, balanced tan without causing unnecessary harm to your skin. This can easily get very overwhelming!
Tanning beds come in different levels. Levels 1 and 2 use low-pressure bulbs, unlike levels 3-6 that use medium to high-pressure bulbs. The latter provides more UVA rays and fewer UVB rays, which gives you a darker tan. The higher the level, the quicker you will tan, and the darker your tan will be.
Levels 1 and 2 are perfect for those of you looking for a light tan for minimal cost. If you’re always on the go and you need a super quick tan that will last a long time, go for levels 3 or 4.
Styles of Tanning Beds
Not all tanning beds are the same. When you’re choosing the right tanning bed, you should also consider the style of bed. Do you want low-pressure beds or high-pressure beds with a booth?
Low-pressure beds are more traditional options where the UV rays are emitted in a spectrum that mimics natural light. If you burn easily, these are not recommended. High-pressure beds emit a smaller portion of UVA rays that penetrate deeper into your skin. This gives you a longer-lasting tan and is usually more expensive. If you have fair skin and burn easily, this is a better option for you.
