In a previous post, we gave you some recipes to fabulous homemade face masks for a variety of purposes, such as to rejuvenate skin, treat wrinkles, even out skin tone and texture, and to get rid of blackheads. Besides addressing certain specific needs like those, it is important that we take care of our skin depending on its type. Because beautiful skin never goes out of style, we want to give you some more recipes, but this time, we will break them up per skin type. Let’s do this!
Homemade Face Masks for Every Skin Type
Some skin types produce more facial oil than others, some are dry in places and oily in others, and some are really delicate and can be easily irritated. This is why we cannot treat our skin the same way as everyone else. Here are some face mask recipes you can make at home that will address your specific skin type.
Oatmeal, Honey, and Lemon Juice Facial Mask for Oily Skin
The mix of oatmeal, honey, and lemon juice will keep your face clean, oil-free, and fresh.
Take some organic oatmeal and combine it with honey and lemon juice. Apply the mixture to your face, except around the eyes. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Pat your face dry with a soft absorbent cloth.
Honey Face Mask for Dry Skin
This is a good moisturizing mask and it’s really gentle, so it can be used more than once a week if desired.
1 tsp of avocado – mashed
1tsp of yogurt – plain whole milk
1tsp of honey – preferably raw, organic
Use a small bowl to blend in all this good stuff. It’s now ready to use on your face. Leave on for 20-30 minutes and then rinse with cold water.
Egg White and Yogurt Mask for Combination Skin
This combination of ingredients is great to nourish your combination complexion. The egg is wonderful. It has vitamins A, D, E, some types of B, and even selenium. It also helps shrink pores, has a lifting effect, and is considered an alternative to Botox. The yogurt cleanses and moisturizes, fights acne, prevents premature aging, and diminishes blemishes, among other benefits. Not bad, huh? Try beating 1 egg white until frothy and add 3 Tbsp. of plain organic yogurt. Apply this on your face and leave it for 15-20 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
Banana and Honey Mask for Sensitive Skin
½ banana – mashed
¼ cup oatmeal – cooked with milk
½ tbsp honey
Mix everything together. Apply on your face and massage it in a circular motion. Leave for 15 minutes and rinse with tepid water. Oatmeal gently cleanses and heals the skin, plus it’s high in nourishing vitamins and minerals.
These are some of our favorite budget-friendly DIY face masks. We hope you enjoy taking some time to pamper yourself with these recipes and relax. Here’s to beautiful skin!
