Embrace Your Friend- The Veggie

If you are looking to clean up your diet, eating fresh is a good way to begin.  Veggies are a great way to begin eating fresh.  In addition to the vitamins they provide, they also help one to feel full, because of the fiber.  Veggies are low in calories, not that you are counting them, so you can eat as much as you want!

Throw Out Processed Food

Processed foods are not your friend.  These are full of sodium, sugar and fat, adding to excessive water weight, and weight gain.  Read the back of packages, if you don’t know what an ingredient is, stay away from it.  Foods containing high fructose corn syrup, or high amounts of sugar, put it back and opt for another brand or type of food.

Replace Sugar with Honey

We aren’t saying to throw out the sugar, that just sets one up for disaster.  However, limiting your sugar to only a few times a week, or only when you are out with friends or a date can drastically cut down those snacking binges that occur mid afternoon.  A good way to satiate that sweet tooth addiction is substitute honey for sugar.  Sweeten yogurt or pancakes with honey, once you start you will find multiple substitutes.  This alone will take inches off your waistline, if maintained consistently!

Wholly Whole Grains

Punt the white bread, choose whole wheat bread and pasta.  Whole grains contain more nutrients than refined grains, and less calories.  Outside of bread, choose quinoa, oats and opt for brown rice instead of white rice.  An added bonus is a recent study showing people who eat whole grains have lower body mass indexes and less belly fat than people who don’t eat whole grains.

Eat More Fruit!

Did you know fruit has often been referred to as ‘natures candy’?  It’s naturally sweet, rich in crucial vitamins and minerals, and satisfies the sweet tooth craving.  What’s not to like?  They count as fresh food, and is an excellent clean eating choice.  The recommended amount of fruit for an adult is 1 ½ Cups a day.
